The Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride
A sponsored cycle ride along the pilgrimage route of the Queen Eleanor crosses

HOME

Welcome to The Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride, a new cycle route through some of England's finest countryside along the chain of Queen Eleanor Crosses, following Eleanor of Castile's funereal procession in 1290.

The Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride is a unique 209 mile ride along the historic route of the Queen Eleanor Crosses, from Lincoln to London. The route covers the best of Lincolnshire, Rutland, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire and is ideally suited to a 3-4 day ride (or 1-2 for the more ambitious!)

A comprehensive information pack is available for £10 from the QECR Treasurer. For more information, click on the 'register' button above.

The 'Launch Event' for this programme took place over the Spring Bank Holiday (2 - 5 May 2008), when 36 cycling enthusiasts made their way along the route with help from friends stretching all the way to Geddington and Harby. We plan to repeat this event in 2010.

The Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride is not-for-profit and aims to minimise its costs so maximising the money raised by the event, with all monies raised being split equally between The Connection at St Martin 's and the Renewal of St-Martin-in-the-Fields.

The Connection at St Martin 's (CSTM) works with homeless people to provide support, move-on advice, shelter and food.

St Martin-in-the-Fields Church is a vibrant and well-known church in Trafalgar Square at the centre of London, the buildings of which are coming to the end of major renewal work. The final cross along this route, the Charing Cross, stood just a few paces from where St Martins stands today.
