The Queen Eleanor Cycle Ride

THE ROUTE

The cycle route follows as nearly as is practicable the historical route of the funeral procession which left Harby and proceeded South from Lincoln in November 1290 using the Roman Road, Ermine Street.

The route follows cyclist-friendly roads and tracks, entering London via the Lea River and Regents Canal to the magnificent Westminster Abbey, Eleanor's final resting place. It was tested earlier this summer by 36 cyclists of varying ability and proved thoroughly enjoyable. The route takes in the best of the English countryside in Lincolnshire , Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and into London, via some of the most interesting and attractive historical places.

To travel the route we would reccommend taking 3-4 days, although any part of the route could be enjoyed as a day ride. To plan your ride, get a copy of our information pack (click on the 'register' button above). Our recommended itinerary for the whole route is as follows:
